Hello Fellow Modelers!
This email is to inform the group of a change of location for our monthly group meetings and the shift in meeting day this month. We will now be meeting at:
“At Ease Games”
8990 Miramar Rd #140
San Diego, CA 92126
Although Game Empire has been good to us, we really wanted a location that would allow us to bring food into the meetings and better foster an environment for building models. We feel we have found that at this new location. “At Ease Games” provides an open food policy, a larger and nicer location, and a building room in the back.
Also, due to Mothers Day falling on our standard meeting day (May 11th), we have elected to move the regular meeting this month to Sunday, May 18. However, a few folks are still planning on showing up to the new meeting location on the 11th for an informal get together – so feel free to come by and hang out. The standard second Sunday meeting date will resume next month on June 14th.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
Our March meeting is coming up this Sunday 3/9/14 6PM at Game Empire. This Month- Club Shirts have arrived! We will also be finalizing our theme for the next Winterfest show. It will be a good one so make it if you can! And bring some models with you too!!
The Game Empire is located at 7051 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, Suite 306. San Diego, CA 92111.
At our last meeting I spoke to the group about an article I ran across about finishing and painting. It is from 2001, but I feel it is one of the best finishing pieces I have ever read. Lots of good gems on painting techniques…particularly if you like using the Gunze Mr. Color Products. It is a three part series and worth the effort to read. So for those who requested it her you are!
I have started playing with some of these finishing techniques and have been very happy with them. It seems like both the Mr.Color and Tamiya paints behave very similarly when you thin them with the Mr. Color Self Leveling Thinner. Dan over at Discount Hobbies says he well be stocking the Mr. Color SLT and I know I will be stocking up for the future! Just remember to wear a respirator and have plenty of ventilation because it is essentially a lacquer thinner.
